I'm Rita Sladack, the principal designer behind Interior Design Factor. For over fifteen years, I've been studying the gap between a beautiful room and one that actually works — and closing it.

My philosophy crystallized early: I watched gorgeously photographed, perfectly on-trend interiors fall flat the moment real life walked in. The right tile, the right faucet finish, and the house still didn't feel like the people who lived there. The projects that lasted — the ones clients stayed in, grew into, and never wanted to leave — were the ones where I'd essentially translated them into space. Not their Pinterest board. Not their neighborhood's expected style. Them.

That's what I do. I read clients like a story, not a demographic. I design for the random Tuesday as much as the big holiday dinner. I obsess over the details other designers overlook — where you drop your bag, where you land with a laptop, whether that gorgeous kitchen actually makes you want to cook on a Wednesday night. Every "almost right" space I've ever walked through became a problem I refuse to let my clients live with.

Travel is my biggest teacher. Wherever I go, I read a place through its architecture — the way local buildings hold light, frame views, and tell the story of a culture. Those observations show up in my work as a deep respect for proportion, material honesty, and a sense of place that feels earned, not applied. Living by the San Diego coast, I'm constantly pulled by the shifting light and the blur between indoors and out — designing homes that feel as effortless and grounded as they are refined.

Interior Design Factor is my studio and my point of view. I'm the through-line on every project — the one reading you, advocating for you, and protecting the integrity of the vision from first concept to final install. Around that, I build tailored teams of contractors, millworkers, fabricators, and specialists matched to what each project demands. The sensibility is mine. The execution is a full studio.

If I've done my job right, guests walk into your home and say "this feels so you" — not "I saw this on Instagram."
